Belly Belt CHILL
The Belly Belt CHILL enables calm, consistent and easily understandable leash handling for the dog. Due to the fixed position of the leash on the body, signals become clearer, more even and easier to interpret.
This product is an in-house product of Der Hundegefährte and was specially developed for structured leash handling – without changing stimuli, without a power struggle.
Why guiding by hand often creates stress
When the leash is held in the hand, the tension changes constantly: arm movements, re-gripping, shortening and giving slack lead to constantly changing leash information.
Many dogs simultaneously try to coordinate their own position, the human's movement, the environment, and the leash pull – this can promote stress, restlessness, and pulling behavior.
Guidance with routine instead of changing stimuli
The Belly Belt CHILL creates a constant starting position. The leash is hooked into the moving D-ring (can be worn on the right or left).
In combination with a fixed-length leash, the distance remains comprehensible. You guide solely through your movement:
- Stop – the dog stops
- Continue or turn away – the dog reorients itself
This creates guidance through body language – not through pulling.
Material & Workmanship
The Belly Belt CHILL is made in Germany and consists of a specially manufactured POP band.
This band is thicker and firmer than conventional nylon webbing, remains dimensionally stable even under load and does not twist.
Alternatively, the belly belt is also available in BioThane® (19 or 25 mm).
Jogging & Multiple Dogs
The belly belt is suitable for jogging with a dog.
For multiple dogs, additional leashes can be attached to the two front rings. When purchasing a second CHILL leash, you will also receive a swiveling snap hook to which you can attach both leashes to prevent them from twisting.
Note for owners of multiple dogs: Several loose, free-moving D-rings would not be practical, as they would hit against each other.
Usage Notes
- Optimal for leadership training through body tension
- Facilitates orientation and calm leash handling
- Can be ordered without a ring as a clothing accessory (leave a note in the shopping cart: "no ring")
- Practice the "lunge" at home in a dry run to stabilize yourself outside, should your dog pull strongly forward --> always wear the belly belt on your hips.
